Can I Have Multiple Teeth Extracted at Once?

At Wedington Family Dental, we only recommend restorative treatments that we believe are absolutely necessary. Sometimes, that means recommending the removal of a tooth. What is this process like? Is it possible to need more than one tooth extracted at once?

When Is a Tooth Extraction Necessary?

If possible, we try to save compromised natural teeth with treatments like fillings, dental crowns, or root canals. But in cases of severe decay, damage, or extreme overcrowding, extraction can be the best choice for your health. This is often true for wisdom teeth, which are the last molars to erupt. They are more likely than other teeth to become impacted, infected, and cause issues. Whether it’s your wisdom teeth or other teeth that create problems, we always consider extraction as the last resort.

How many teeth are necessary to be extracted depends on your unique case. For example, it is possible to have several teeth beyond repair that need removal to protect your oral health or you could have anywhere from 1-4 wisdom teeth that need to be removed at one time. Before any extraction, we will carefully consider your health, how difficult the extractions will be, what teeth need to be removed, and so on. Within these considerations, it may be the right option to have more than one tooth extracted at an appointment.
